The Lord wants our "hearts to be inclined" toward Him and to keep His commandments, "so that it might go well" with us and our children.
He desires for us to "walk in obedience" and "impress them" on our children. (Deuteronomy 5:29, 6:7)
"Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:7
This is how we learn about anything, isn't it? We read and talk about something we're interested in, gradually deepening our knowledge of that topic. The beauty of reading scripture often and regularly (even listening to it on walks) is that His Word gives us fresh perspective for each day. It renews us.
He wants us to grow IN Him and WITH Him in all our daily activities, keeping His Word ever mindful in our thoughts and actions whatever we're doing and whichever season we're in.
The Lord's goodness abounds in nature around us and offers sweet reminders of His provision.
Especially during springtime, we can see how His creative designs are at work as everything begins to green up and burst into color. Recently the GROW template provided me with an opportunity to reflect on His beautiful gifts of spring as I colored it in and added some flower stickers. (And I finally found a home for this rather large, dimensional daffodil sticker that has its own built-in background color.)
Our verse from Day 2 of our 31days of Renewal series is a familiar one to many of us.
"...but those who hope in the Lord will RENEW their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
We're all fighting off the weariness of pandemic life, aren't we? The image of strength and renewal from the majestic eagle give us hope that we can keep moving forward, soaring on strength from the Lord and standing firm on His promises.
Day 16 of #31daysofRenewal resonates with me on many levels and ties right in to the Isaiah verse about being "renewed like the eagle." (I found clip art of an eagle and traced it.)
The Lord blesses me through #biblequilting as He gives me fresh ways to connect scripture together and to visualize His Word for today's circumstances. I'm ever grateful for His compassion and grace for me personally and for us all collectively.
One of my Godwink moments in the process of creating this page is how the Psalm passage links our March theme of Renewal into our April theme of Redemption. Two different Bible Quilters constructed the reference lists for these topics and didn't know these themes would follow one another. I didn't know what these scriptures held until I started Bible Quilting them this month. I love the details in which God reminds us of His plans and purposes for us. We just have to keep walking obediently in His path.
"I long to obey your commandments! RENEW my life with YOUR goodness." Psalm 119:40
Another Godwink was discovering this verse from Psalm 119 when I realized we had a typo for Day #13. These particular phrases connect all these things together in my heart.
What goodness is being revealed to YOU this season?
How are YOU growing?
