Where do you do your daily devotions?
What do you have in your space to help make it cozy and/or keep you focused?
This is my reading nook. I found the comfy chair-and-a-half a few years ago and love the splash of color it adds to my space. Bonus: it's a foldout twin bed! I found the polka dotted ottoman at a local thrift store and it's handy for SO many things! (You may even recognize it as a backdrop in some of my BQJ photos!) I often kick off my shoes here, so the fuzzy carpet adds a cozy element.
The personal touches have been layered in over time. I rotate through various quilts/afghans (most made by my Grandma) depending on the season. The wall collage is made up of craft projects I've done with friends or sentimental pieces from my Mom/Grandma. The lamp has blessing rings that hold meaningful cards.
I keep my Bibles, devotional books, and current BQ journals within arm's reach on the little bookshelf. Sometimes I'm still drowsy when I get here in the morning, so extra getting up and down is not happening yet! The coaster on it is a son's 3rd grade art project.
I use a childhood cup from my Grandma's house as a holder for my Bible highlighters. She had a set of multi-colored cups that had each grandkids' initial written on them in sharpie. My cousins and I got them when she passed away last year. That little red cup sparks a bunch of memories!
When I've finished up my daily reading, I move over to my craft table to do Bible Quilting or Bible journaling. The library table used to be our kitchen table during our newlywed years. The drawers in the former jewelry box on the corner holds stickers, markers, and colored pencils. The old metal pickup truck parked on top of it was my Dad's childhood toy and now holds succulents my son gave me to revive.
I love the nostalgic mixture of things past and present in this space where I meet up with God. These sentimental objects often trigger memories or remind me to pray for a specific person.
So, that's a peek of my quiet time corner.... please share yours in the Comments below!
