I am so intrigued by Bible Quilting. I think it is a wonderful idea. I am not artistic, so there is that, but my biggest concern is I have a hard enough time being consistent with any kind of Bible study/reading. I am worried I will spend more time ‘trying to get the art correct’ and not focus on the Bible reading.

Hi Deyon! So glad that you’ve joined us. Remember the journal is between you and God. It’s an expression of your time with God. Pray, relax and perhaps start by looking up the scriptures for the month.
Deyon, welcome to Bible Quilt Journaling. Just want to say there is no right or wrong way to do your BQJ, it is your personal journal and your time to draw closer to our Heavenly Father. Some days I just color, apply washi tape, or design templates but those days get me focused thinking about what I want to put on those pages and it also quiets my heart and mind. With all that has gone on this year sometime we just need to color.
Just heard a sermon online this past Sunday that was on Worship. One of the things the speaker talked about was that art was a form of worship. My first thought was about those days when doing BQJ and I do more coloring and creating than laying down verses. Our God loves color and made a beautiful creation full of color.
You don't need to be artistic to do BQJ, you just need a bit of time and a heart that wants to draw closer to our Father and whatever you create will be the way you are worshiping.
Enjoy the journey and the community of Bible Quilt Journaling friends!
I'm going to encourage you to just dive in, Deyon. The monthly themes with daily verses seem to be helping a lot of us "stay on track" and feel camaraderie as we pursue these verses together.
Remember that God is the ultimate Creator and He made us all uniquely creative, so embrace YOUR process. The takeaway of #biblequilting is enriching our time spent in the Word. The creative elements are just the bonus to help us linger in the scriptures a little longer and to gain some fresh perspectives. We all borrow ideas from each other and use stickers/washi tape, etc to help us embellish things we can't draw. Each of us has different handwriting styles, so again I'd encourage you to embrace YOURS. Your family members will have a sentimental tug recognizing your handwriting and it's a lovely legacy to leave handwritten scripture for your family.
I'm glad to have you aboard and appreciate you chiming in with your concerns. One step at a time and enjoy the process with the Lord!
