30 Days of Mercy

Updated: Nov 27, 2021

Fall has slipped in here with all of its wonderfully rich hues and textures. The leaves are blushing with color and some are even beginning to rustle along the neighborhood streets.

As the mornings have gotten cooler, my morning walks have been a little more brisk and my golden, Katie, has had renewed energy in her eagerness to go around the block with me.

Transitioning into November also has us shifting into a new topic: mercy.

What comes to mind when you think of MERCY? The story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10 is often used as an example of compassion, illustrating the command to "love your neighbor."

What is mercy?

- compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whose it is within one's power to punish or harm

- a mission performed out of a desire to relieve suffering; motivated by compassion

A couple years ago I Bible quilted a page on Mercy with a handful of verses. I'm looking forward to digging a little deeper into this topic.

Are you ready to explore how compassion and mercy are demonstrated in Scripture?

Our list of references was developed by Vicki from Florida. It's available with the bookmark set released last month and is available to download here.

Once you've got your list printed, then you can begin writing out the full verses onto a flip card set.

As I've mentioned before, this step introduces us to the scriptures and helps us see them in context as we look them up in the Bible. You can explore different translations of the verses during this process, too, if you'd like.

To highlight the word mercy on the BQ page, you can change the color of the pen/marker, use stickers or stamps.

If you don't have the Monthly BQJ, you can still follow along with us on the 30-day template set.

We'll have the chance to create on the Leaf Border page in the Monthly BQJ or on the Leaf template in the 2021 November calendar.

Since the center is blank, it's adaptable to a wide variety of topics (gratitude, abundance, or thanksgiving) and techniques.

We'll have plenty of inspiration for color and texture right outside our doors...

And we've got some samples from our BQ community. Here's a playful Leaf border page that Alice recently shared with us:
