As the coronavirus has marched from country to country, plaguing the daily lives of one nation after another, the song "He's got the whole world in His hands..." keeps coming to my mind.
When I turn off the evening news and feel the weight of sadness and widespread suffering, I think, "He's got this" and take a deep breath.
When I get off a Zoom call having heard personal stories of how Covid19 has invaded families' lives, I whisper "He's got this" and pray again.
It's so hard to know what the ultimate outcome of this pandemic will be, but we can cling to the truths of God's Word for comfort and strength.
God created THIS world for HIS purposes.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1
The world was formed by the WORD of God, by Him speaking it into existence.
That's pretty mind boggling, isn't it?
During our enforced #stayhome time, we have the rare opportunity to truly "Be still" and time to contemplate all matter of things going in this world and in us.
Being still is hard for us as a nation of Doers.
Being still is easier said than done because we tend to get all squirmy when our inner lives are stirred up by so much going on around us.
"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
Often we just stop right there with this familiar verse, claiming that one phrase. However, look at the rest of it in the context of this global pandemic:
"Be still and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the NATIONS,
I will be exalted in the EARTH." Psalm 46:10
As I added this verse to my #biblequiltjournal page, it reminded me to let go of troubled thoughts and to stop chasing after "understanding" in these uncertain times. It reassured me that God has the bigger picture.
He's got this.
We have to stay the course and allow His Work to be done throughout this crisis.
