We had so much fun creating with the Crosses on Stained Glass template together last night! Our families will be able to enjoy these pretty pages on display throughout the Easter season.
This design, printed in the 2021 Month-by-Month Bible Quilt Journal and 2021 BQ April Calendar, is also available as a template combo set.
If you'd like to try one of the techniques I shared during the Craft Night, I'll walk you through the process here and share a process video with you so you'll have an overview.
Print the template on a decorative paper, a solid, and a plain xerox paper copy. If you're using the design already printed in your BQ Monthly or the calendar, then just make a copy of that page.
The plain xerox copy will be used for cutouts for each of the Stained Glass elements.
Supply List:
scissors
glue stick
ruler
pencil and eraser
a piece of regular xerox paper for tracing (or make a copy of the Cross template you have)
assortment of decorative scrapbook paper, including a solid for the cross cutouts
markers/pens in variety of colors; a black marker/pen; white or metallic gel pens
colored pencils, crayons or pastels
washi tape & stickers
stamps & ink pads (optional)
Bible & scriptures about Easter
The 31 Days of Renewal or 30 Days of Redemption reference lists are great resources or maybe you'd like to explore some of the verses from last year's series on Resurrection:
Prep for the Stained Glass elements:
On the xerox copy of the template, number all of the individual spaces. Once the page is numbered, cut along the dotted lines. You'll end up with 3 crosses and 27 other pieces.
You can place the loose elements on a piece of card stock or a tray to keep them corralled until you're ready to use them.
Option #1: Adding cutout crosses onto a "stained glass" decorative paper
I chose some glittery chipboard letters to highlight a single Bible verse.
You can accentuate the focal area of the page by using decorative paper cutouts to simulate individual stained glass elements.
Option 2: Coloring background and adding texture through a few paper cutouts
Option 3: Simulate stained glass by using ALL cutout pieces

You can adapt whatever supplies you have and choose the option that appeals to you the most. Once you've got the process down, you may decide to try another version of this project. Enjoy personalizing it with scripture that resonates with you.
Adding Scripture
Once you've written your verses, then you can add final stitch lines and whatever embellishments you'd like.
Hope you enjoy creating with these wonderful templates Alice designed and that through the process your heart is tenderized for the emotional depths we experience throughout the Easter season. If you weren't able to join us last night, here's the replay for you!
