We're enjoying some glorious spring days here in Oklahoma. The dogwood blossoms have been spectacular and the tulips have been so vibrant this year.
Our wisteria is working overtime to cover our side fence while the climatis vine is wrangling its way across an overhead trellis.
It's been a feast for our senses and a joyous respite after all of our pandemic hibernation!
Intermittent rain showers and windy days often threaten to blow off all the pretty blossoms. That's how spring is around here: gorgeous sunny days followed by stormy ones. And repeat.
Last week one of our local Bible Quilters shared a page she did for April Showers. Isn't this a cheerful representation of spring rain?
Another Bible Quilter shared how she used decorative paper to make an umbrella for her "U" page in her ABC Bible Quilt Journal.
An umbrella showed up on another #abcbiblequiltjournal page, focusing on the single concept Understanding.
All these umbrellas, cute rainboots and puddles popping up in the FB group spurred some discussion about Spring BQ pages, so I created a Spring Showers template set for us all to have available to #biblequilt with in a variety of ways.
Spring is a wonderful time to savor rainy days, fresh blossoming trees, the vibrant colors of many different flowers, and bright green growth emerging everywhere we look.
It's a lovely time of renewal after a bleak winter season.
God's glory of nature shines a little brighter after a gentle spring rain, doesn't it?
It even rained while I was sitting outside enjoying the spring temperatures and coloring on my page to get it started!
I began my Spring Showers page harvesting verses on RAIN, using the 8.5 x 11 version of the template trimmed to fit onto my Monthly Bible Quilt Journal.
Then our verse for today in the 30 Days of Redemption series made me think about the parallels between the refreshing rain and the cleansing of our spirits through His Redemption.
"I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to Me for I have redeemed you." Isaiah 43:22
So I finished out my page with verses about us being cleansed and renewed.
The Lord shows us His faithfulness in the provision of spring rains for this season as well as His enduring love to nourish our souls with His redemptive salvation.
As we tend to our gardens and spruce up our yards, we can savor all these scriptures that are applicable for this phase of our lives.
We can pray over our loved ones as we prune through deadwood and transplant perennials into areas of better light.
May His Word blossom within you during this season of growth and re-entry into spring activities. I hope His April showers bring you comfort and a fresh perspective, too!
